Home for the Holidays
We were lucky enough to find an amazing deal on a flight to Canada, so we parked our truck and trailer at a storage place and headed home to visit with friends and family for Christmas. We ended up staying in Canada for a total of six weeks.

We were so excited to meet our new nephew/cousin Charlie. We were all smitten. He is just the sweetest, cutest, lovable baby ever. Nicole, Tim, Asher and Carys drove up from Arkansas for Christmas as well so it was really great that all of us could be together. We all spent Christmas at Ian and Alisha’s house in Coldwater.

Even though the Whitfield Christmas celebration was a bit derailed by a stomach bug, we still had lots of fun. The kids were so excited to get to spend time with Grammy and Grandpa and their cousins. We got together and the kids all decorated the “kid tree” which has been a tradition at our house since my kids were just babies. The kids also made gingerbread houses and decorated cookies, went to the movie theatre together, had a couple sleepovers and played lots of minecraft. It was so great to be home and just spend time together.

* Happy New Year!!!.

Since we were home for 6 weeks, we had to spend some of our days homeschooling. As some of you know, I have been really struggling to figure out this part of our journey. Up until now, it had not been going very well. None of us were enjoying the current homeschooling situation, and I felt like I was spending all of my evening hours trying to plan and figure out what we would be working on the next day at school. So over the Christmas break, I did a little more searching and found what I hope to be our solution. It is an online learning website that has each grade level and subjects in an interactive format that gives the kids a bit of freedom to choose what they want to learn about each day. They are supposed to do a certain number of math, science, language arts, etc. per day, but they can choose which lesson they want to do. The first couple of weeks have been great, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps going as well as it has been. So much fun in the snow.

And here we are back in Florida!!! Just a day after being bundled up in our snowsuits in Canada!
